In my last blog post, I talked about my 2018 recording project. I am very excited that this weekend we will begin rehearsals of the final three pieces with a recording date of April 21. As of today, two thirds of the recording project has been completed and then in May I will once again be working with engineer Peter Karl to mix the entire album.

I can't say enough about the musicians who will be with me on this project. On April 21 I will have performing with me, Jordan Young on alto sax, Harry Miller on piano & keyboards, Luca Rosenfeld on upright and electric bass and on drums, Misia Vessio. In March these musicians plus Sean Moran on guitar, Evan Lawrence on electric bass, vocalist and improviser, Rosdeli Marte and on spoken word narration from Norway, Anja-Christin Nielsen joined me to record the electric spoken word suite that concludes the album. I am very thankful to have such extraordinary musicians on this project with me and don't forget Hyuna Park on piano, Luca Rosenfeld, upright bass and Gary Fogel on drums who recorded the first three pieces of the project back in 2017.

The project is entitled, "Connections" as the music presented is written as three suites each connecting my music to another art form. The first suite is called, "Music for Dance in Three Movements" followed by three compositions based on the artwork of the Norwegian artist AK Dolven and concluding with a five movement piece based on the poetry of the Norwegian poet Eldrid Lunden from her 2003 book, "The Flock and the Shadow" which will be narrated in the original Norwegian language by Ms. Nielsen.

I am very excited about these new compositions and I am looking forward to sharing this music with you. Please sign up for my newsletter to receive updates on the "Connections" project. By this time next month, the recordings will be completed and preparation for the mix will proceed through May with a release expected sometime in June.
